Dr. Jilek is a lifelong Pasco resident. He was born at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from Pasco High. He earned a B.S. in Biology from Gonzaga University in 1977, then graduated from the University of Washington Dental School four years later. Spence has been in private practice in Pasco ever since.
Spence is married to Jane, whom he met as a freshman at Gonzaga. The Jileks have two children. Mary Ellen graduated from Gonzaga in 2008 with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising and is an event planner at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle. David graduated from Gonzaga in 2011 with a degree in Environmental Studies. Both Mary Ellen and David are graduates of Pasco’s Tri-Cities Prep.
Dr Jilek is very active in the local community. He served as President of the Pasco Chamber, Pasco Kiwanis and the Tri-Cities Water Follies Association, and was inducted into Pasco High School’s Hall of Fame in 2002. Spence chaired the Bond committee which successfully promoted Franklin County’s Courthouse restoration project. He is a former Chairman of the Board at Tri-Cities Prep and currently chairs the Finance Council at St Patrick’s Parish and School.
Spence served on several Washington State Dental Association committees and was inducted as a Fellow in the American and International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Jilek promotes good oral health community-wide, having worked to help the City of Pasco find funding to add water system fluoridation equipment some years ago.
